As much as we love Cornwall, we found some real adventure on our recent trip to Scotland. Apparently Glen Coe and the surrounding area is the 'Nation's Outdoor Capital' for the UK (thats trade marked as well!!!) We can well believe that! Alongside the numerous hill walking and cycling opportunities, we found some excellent SUPing! We paddled on Loch Ness, as well as various absolutely stunning sea lochs on the west coast around Oban.
We found the Red Paddle inflatables that we recently took delivery off to be perfect for mobile adventure. We were wild camping in our van and space was limited, what with the little one, however the Red inflatables were amazing, packing down nice and small to be stowed underneath our rear seats only to be inflated in a matter of minutes.
The most magical spot of all, was a beautiful location on the shores of a loch north of Oban, where our good friend Tugboat grew up. He contacted his parents for us and they allowed us to paddle and camp on the beach of their oyster farm in the most mirror flat conditions ever! We were even joined by a local seal (scourge of salmon and shell fish farmers apparently!).
The highlight of the trip was definitely Lucy and Izzy paddling together, the sight of a 10 month old baby strapped to her mother on a paddleboard definitely divided opinion amongst onlookers! Still, what a great trip!
We are now back and ready to roll in the slightly warmer Cornish waters.
Hopefully we will see you on the beach soon...
Luke and Lucy
